MCUD participates in important
political event in Baltimore.
Baltimore, Maryland, Nov 05, 2005.
Fulfilling its international agenda of work, last night, the Cuban
Movement for a Unified Democracy (MCUD) represented by its president the
Eng. César L. Alarcón participated in the Red White and Blue Dinner
honoring the governor of Maryland, Bob Ehrlich Jr. at the Hyatt Regency
Hotel in the Bay City of Baltimore. Numerous high tanking personalities
met to show their support and friendship for the governor, as well as
for lieutenant governor Michael Steele.
During this important initial reception the Eng. Alarcón took the
opportunity to meet with Mr. Ken Mehlman, Chairman of the Republican
National Committee. During the friendly and frank encounter they
discussed national and international political realities. Alarcón
expressed to Mr. Mehlman that there are many Cuban organizations, as
much inside as outside the island, arduously working daily to achieve
the dream of every honest Cuban to see a single Free and Sovereign Cuba.
"Universal history teaches to us that a people cannot be divided in
exile and nation. Our apostle, Martí fought from exile and returned to
fight for the freedom and the construction of democracy in Cuba,
similarly millions of Cubans will return fused as what they are, a
single people when the opportune moment arrives. No one has right to
divide the Cubans here nor there, as Castro has always tried to do".
Alarcón handed Mr. Mehlman an important document requesting that his
party continues its trend of not yielding before the Cuban dictatorship
and its allies until Cuba achieves total freedom and independence.
Later during the supper Eng. Alarcón spoke with the governor of Maryland
Bob. Ehrlich Jr. and thanked him on behalf of the Cuban people for all
of his support for the cause of freedom and to maintain and implement
laws and measures that impede the brutal Cuban dictatorship. Governor
Bob Ehrlich Jr. sporting a wide and sincere smile expressed, "at your
service Alarcón, we are here to serve the cause of freedom and
democracy".
The governor of Maryland Bob Ehrlich Jr. has demonstrated similar to the
governor of Florida Jeb Bush that they fully understand the Cuban
problem, for that reason they maintain firm position on the subject of
normalization of relations until the Cuban people are free.
